Fifty Shades of Red

While grey is the colour of the season's bondage bestseller, the colour of the hot sexy Italian summer has to be RED.

RED for my favourite Campari Spritz aperitivo (enjoyed with the lovely Sherry in Venice last week!)

RED is the colour of fresh tomato sauce for linguine, eaten in the shade of the portico in the afternoon.

RED are the flowers in my favourite hidden villa garden.

RED is the colour of hot summer lips and a pair of savage Dolce e Gabbana stilettos that sink into the grass at steamy summer parties.

RED are flowers on Rosi's window sill, beneath stormy Monte Civetta.

ENJOY your summer days and nights! Here's what I've been doing: a day in Venice with American writer Sherry, with a stop at my favourite bar Il Cavatappo.

**PS. I have a new interview up at http://expatinterviews.com/italy/catinitaly.html
for those of you interested in living in Italy, cat-style.

  1. Loving all that red - although I'd swap the Campari for Pimms x

    1. I would also add a caffè shakerato to all that except that it's chocolate brown with some lovely froth on top!

      Agree with Pimms though xcat

  2. Red is my favourite colour, I much prefer it to grey. I think it is a good thing that we are having pasta con ragu' this evening, as I'm thinking about red now thanks to your post. Now I'm off to read your interview.

    1. And I'm even thinking of hobbling along in my D&Gs at the trade fair in Paris next week. Do you believe they are labelled Rosso Anguilla on the box? Bought them for a steal!

Love your new blog but had trouble commenting on the old. Beer for Campari?

    1. Isn't it magic? I felt like I'd known Sherry for years too, and was showing her round my hood. We hit quite a few bars and it was truly delightful - great talk and I missed my train then!

    1. Hi Lisa,
I confess my toe nail polish is always black - don't know where I picked up that habit. But vibrant red lipstick on one of those days when your dress is right and you feel SMASHING. Ah, nothing like it.

And yes how lovely to meet Sherry in Venice! When are you popping over?
